Tech Preview

    The Tech Preview is out...

Well, just remember, it is a "preview", so not even alpha stage yet.

You can install the SecTeer Personal CARMA. It will register an account. It will start communicating with the back-end. It will do a scan (once it is time).

The part about when the CARMA does the scan, that may seem a bit annoying, but we need to test the scheduling. We will implement something more responsive later (and we should be able to do this without you having to reinstall).

The result you will get, will be limited, CARMA detects around 20 different pieces of software now and only reports that the software is installed.

Next step will be to add more specific rules, that will report versions.

Then we will start adding update / security / EoL information.

We are working on a better and nicer looking UI and we will also work on the information we display in the "Applications" list.

We did also not publish the Privacy / Data Processing Policy, that is due in a day or two. It will be GDPR compliant, except you can't delete your data yet, but that is implemented in the backend and is mostly a UI thing, so it is coming soon.

You can get the Tech Preview of the SecTeer Personal CARMA here:
    https://carma.secteer.com/dl/secteerSetup.exe

    And you can login here:
    https://carma.secteer.com/personal-carma/

All it requires is a valid email and a recent version of Windows.

And, you may want to know who you are dealing with; this site is sponsored and operated by SecTeer. SecTeer is incorporated in Denmark, founded by Dofri, Michael and Thomas. We all three held key positions at Secunia, Michael and I (Thomas / Tom) were also founders of Secunia. We left before it was acquired by Flexera. You can read more about the team behind CARMA at https://secteer.com/about/

I will post more later today and tomorrow and...

    Happy testing

  • @tom KeepassXC is the one I recommend for those who are not lucky enough to have a PC :-))!

@gregalexandre This may be due to the account creation process not being streamlined in the first few days. Btw. KeePass is awesome, but KeePassXC even more so.

  • @vulndetect I reset my password and now it is working.
Quite surprising because I use KeePass to store my passwords and so its quite difficult for me to forget them :-)!

  • @tom Thanks. I was finally able to connect and install the agent.
At this time waiting for displayed data. Regard.

@TheFly I had the same problem that the version numbers are a bit confusing here in the forums.
I already suggested that it should made more clear what version is for the local agent and what version is for the web UI.

@tom wrote me this in a chat:
    UI is at 7.1.2
    Agent is at 6.1.1

  • administrators

@thefly 0.7.1.2 is the UI version. The agent is still at 0.6.1.1. Sorry if this isn't clear enough.

  • What is the link for Version 0.7.1.2. The only version I get is 0.6.1.1.

@bobie2 We have confirmed your account, so it should work now. We have also fixed the email issues and changing of password in the UI.

  • I am having no luck with login in on my computer says wrong email or password or someone has attempted to use your email address

  • VulnDetect Team Member

@gregalexandre Reviewing this more closely, there was an issue sending confirmation emails under certain conditions, we will manually confirm your account. Please let me know if there is other issues. Either here or via email.

  • administrators

@vulndetect Hence the "Someone has attempted...." email.

  • administrators

@gregalexandre Your old account and password should still work. We don't delete the account just because you reinstall the agent.

  • @vulndetect : I tried the second way (creating account first). I only received a mail with "Someone has attempted to create an account using this email address" nothing else... When launching Persornal carma installation I got an error after entering my email. At this time I cannot confirm my email as required.

  • administrators

@khfbvfug Thanks. I don't think that is unusual. By all means, send it for analysis. It will only be good so they can white list it. I guess it is rare that they see such tiny executables, that are perfectly legit.

  • @tom FYI microsoft security essentials just asked me to send a copy of the agent for further analysis

A new version of the UI has been released - but no password changes before next week.

Some of the information in the "Configuration" needs to be populated, this will happen automatically, when the agent check-in and does an inspection next time, so you may currently see a misleading "Never".

Beware, you may need to reinstall the agent, due to a bug that was fixed in the agent, earlier today:
